Tellers

I didn’t even realize Tellers had a special brunch menu until today! I love Teller’s, it’s a great lunch spot and I normally get the buffalo chicken wrap. It’s huge and filling but today I couldn’t pass up some good ol’ chicken & waffles 😋

The waffles were fluffy and the chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Both cooked to perfection. Not pictured was a bleu cheese sauce that I dipped my chicken in and it was the perfect combination of savoring paired with the sweet of the maple syrup it was excellent.

I hope everyone has a great 4th of July and whether you go out or stay home and barbecue, I hope you enjoy some delicious food and savor a day of rest and relaxation!

Las Margaritas

I feel like I just wrote a lost about Las Margs but here we are again 😂 This is truly the place in Columbia I frequent the most. Today we decided to get “happy hour” a.k.a. we’re going to drink tequila and eat our weight in chips and queso and guacamole.

I’ve never got the guacamole Mexicano until today but wow I have been missing out. A bed of fresh avocados with pico, queso fresca cheese, like juice and fresh tortilla chips. This is a new staple for me. And of course a tequila club soda with lots of limes. Presentation is everything and our bartender today understands that. I didn’t even order an entree and I’m stuffed.

Las Margs, always a good decision. 🍹🌮

Peacemaker Lobster & Crab

This is my favorite. restaurant. EVER.

How’s that for an introduction? Seriously the best food in the state of Missouri, and I mean that. Peacemaker Lobster & Crab is located in St. Louis, MO in Soulard just a jump and a skip away from the Anheuser Busch Brewery. They are serving up the freshest seafood you’re going to find in the land-locked state of Missouri. They’re famous for their lobster roll which you can get either Maine style (cold with mayonnaise) or Connecticut (warm with butter). I always opt for Connecticut style and it never disappoints. A warm, toasted roll served with huge chunks of buttery lobster, it’s a crowd pleaser.

They also have a wide variety of options on their menu from po boys to crab boils to fried green tomatoes, Peacemakers will make you feel like you’re on the coast in a southern city. If you’ve ever been to Charleston, SC you will know what I’m talking about when I say this place has a very Charleston-esque ambiance to it.

A coworker recommended this place to me several years ago and now it’s the place we celebrate almost every occasion. Today we were celebrating my dad and younger brother’s birthday and of course they chose to eat at none other than Peacemakers! 🦞🦀😍

1839 Taphouse

1839 Taphouse , or more commonly referred to as “Taphouse” or if you’re really a regular “Tap”, is a Columbia hidden treasure. They don’t even have a sign outside so it’s very tucked away in a plaza off Green Meadows Rd.

Only open for dinner, I would say they are most famous for their wide selection of beers on tap (obvs) and the infamous “flip night” a.k.a. After 9PM on Tuesday’s, every drink you order you flip a coin to see if you get it for free or not. There have been times I’ve been lucky enough to walk away without ever having a tab on these nights.

Also they low-key have amazing bar food. I would say their pizza is my favorite and some of the best pizza in town. The homemade chips are always a must for me as well. I usually order them with the garlic parmesan seasoning but tonight I switched it up and ordered with ranch season, both excellent choices.

Fuzzy’s Taco Shop

Fuzzy’s Taco Shop is a chain but I am obsessive about it. There was one five minutes from my house when I was in high school so Fuzzy’s holds a special place in my heart. If you want a quick-serve, casual dining experience where you get mountains tex-mex at a cheap price then Fuzzy’s is your place.

I think I’ve tried everything on their menu and everything is good. My personal favorite is the nachos, but today I went with a “lighter” option, their salad. These salads are massive, the bowl is bigger than my head loaded with greens, pico, cheese, tortilla strips dusted in their famous “Fuzzy dust” and served with your choice of meat and dressing (top right-fajita chicken with salsa; bottom left-shredded chicken with avocado ranch).

I am so #blessed that there is one within walking distance from my apartment, and one within walking distance from my office.

There will, without a doubt, be more to come on my blog about Fuzzy’s

Las Margs

If you live in CoMO and don’t think Las Margaritas has the best Mexican food in town, please take a seat (just kidding, but seriously). This is the hill I will die on, and I think most Columbia Missourians would agree. They have the best drinks, food, deals and atmosphere.

If you go on Thursday or a weekend, expect there to be a wait. But not to worry, grab a seat at the bar, kick up your feet and enjoy a margarita or tequila soda while you wait.

They have the friendliest staff and we are pretty much on a first name basis at this point because I go to Las Margs at least once a week (yes, I have a problem).

My go-to drink of choice is a tequila club soda with LOTS of limes, otherwise known as a skinny margarita. The chips and salsa are the best I’ve had at any Mexican restaurants and their queso is liquid gold. It’s a staple, I have to get it every single time. I usually go for a grilled chicken quesadilla or fajitas, but whatever you get is sure to satisfy.

The atmosphere is 5 stars as well. The OG location at Corporate Lake is beautiful with a scenic patio. They just opened up several new locations as well including one downtown. I have yet to try this one but will keep you all posted. I’ve heard all good things, of course.

Giordano’s Famous Deep-Dish Pizza 🍕

Now I know this isn’t CoMO food, but my boyfriend and I took a weekend trip to Chicago and how could I keep this to myself?

What’s a trip to the Windy City without making a stop at Giordano’s? Giordano’s is famous for their Chicago style, deep-dish pizza and it’s sure to please. We got a small, pepperoni and it was more than enough for two hungry people. Deep-dish pizza is so thick, and filling so a little goes a long way. We left stuffed and still took leftovers home!

I am a St. Louis pizza gal through and through but I do not discriminate when it comes to pizza and Giordano’s is truly a treat. Pizza comes in all shapes and sizes and I love them all in their own respective. 😄🍕

Murry’s

Murry’s is easily the most popular restaurant in Columbia, MO amongst townies. Famous for their deep-fried green peppers cover in powdered sugar (idk, not my thing but apparently people love them) and their wide variety of menu options.

If you want a seat here expect to wait or come here early. Even when I come here right after worked it’s usually already packed. You can expect Murry’s to be poppin’ almost every night of the week. People in CoMO live for Murry’s.

Today I got the fettuccini with shrimp, onion rings (which are the best), paired with a Sauvignon Blanc. The pasta is so creamy and delicious (and covered in parmesan cheese), this is one of my Murry’s go-to’s. They have so many wonderful dishes that I love I can’t wait to show you more of what they have to offer in the future!

The Shack

Whether you refer to it as “The Shack” or “Mort’s”, if you’re a Mizzou student or employee you know there is no better place on campus to grab lunch. From burgers to chicken fingers to waffle fries, The Shack has all the food you crave. They even serve an amazing breakfast! The chicken tenders and waffle fries are my go-to consumed with an array of dipping sauces of course (definitely go for the honey mustard).

Lakota Coffee

Lakota Coffee Company is one of my favorite local coffee spots! The ambience is very hip and chill, the perfect place to enjoy a good book, have meetings with colleagues, or just get together with friends!

I’m obsessed with Lakota’s iced coffee and variety of syrup options. I will often go without a flavor at other places because I don’t like a bad syrup to ruin my drink but they use quality ingredients and it makes all the difference. I’m a huge hazelnut person and they have a sugar-free hazelnut syrup that’s so phenomenal it keeps me coming back for me.

They have both a downtown and a south side location as of recently! The downtown location is the OG, which just so happens to be within walking distance of my office and the south side location is walking distance from my apartment. I am truly hashtag blessed.
